5 Troubleshooting
This chapter describes general malfunctions and specific
error messages, and suggests remedies. The error
messages are listed by operating system.
Always make sure that you are using the latest driver
software release for your AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller M2.
The latest drivers can be downloaded free from the AVM
Data Call Center (ADC). They are found in the directory
\Cardware\M2\<operating system>\<language>\. The
ADC can be reached over ISDN or GSM using FRITZ!data
at the following number:
+49-30-399 84 300 (IDtrans protocol).
The latest information and drivers can also be found at
AVM’s Internet site (www.avm.de).
5.1 Operational Test
After you have installed your AVM Mobile ISDN-
Controller M2, you should first attempt a test connection
to the AVM Data Call Center (ADC). Proceed as follows:
1. Start your operating system and load the Controller
software (DSS1, 1TR6 or GSM).
2. Start an appropriate ISDN file transfer program
(Connect for DOS; FRITZ!data for Windows 3.x,
Windows 95/98 and for Windows NT).
3. Select Dial and enter the ADC number (see above).
If the connection fails, see the troubleshooting
instructions in this chapter.
If problems regularly occur during operation, run the test
program for the AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller M2 (for
DOS and Windows 3.x only): for DOS, this is m2test.exe
in the driver installation directory; for Windows 3.x run
M2 Test in the “AVM” program group. This program
performs functional tests of the Mobile ISDN-Controller’s
individual components and displays the results.
