Installation of the driver software for the AVM Mobile
ISDN-Controller M1 is now complete. If you are using
the operating systems Windows 95, Windows 98 or
Windows NT, we advise you to install the communications
software FRITZ!GSM. Please install this software using
the INTRO.HLP on the CD-ROM.
For the operating systems Windows 95, Windows 98 or
Windows NT you can as well install FRITZ!32, which is
described in detail in the manual "FRITZ!32" delivered with
the AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller M1.
If you are using the operating system Windows 3.x on
your computer, please install FRITZ!. This software can
be installed using the INTRO.HLP on the CD-ROM.
The AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver
The AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver can be installed
automatically together with the FRITZ! or FRITZ!GSM
communications software. It provides “virtual modem”
entries which can be used in Windows’ Dial-Up Networking
and other applications for connections to the Internet and
to online services. Technically speaking, the CAPI Port
Driver mediates between Windows’ Unimodem/VCOMM
architecture and the Common ISDN API 2.0
(CAPI)
interface. This application interface is provided by the
AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller M1’s driver.
Once you have installed FRITZ!GSM, three relevant
virtual modems are available for use in the GSM network:
AVM ISDN Analog Modem, AVM ISDN Custom Config
and AVM ISDN Fax (G3).
AVM ISDN Analog Modem allows you to connect to
analog dial-in ports. AVM ISDN Custom Config can be
used to reach remote systems, such as Internet service
providers’ dial-in router, that support the V.110 protocol.
V.110 permits a significantly quicker call setup. Ask your
Internet service provider whether V.110 dial-in ports are
available.
