3 Installation of the Driver Software – Windows 98
English
Before you remove the AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller
M1 from the PCMCIA slot, you must first deactivate it. To
do so, click the PC card icon in the "tray" (at the right of
the Windows 98 task bar). In the pop-up menu that
appears, select "Stop AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller M1". A
message appears informing you the card may be removed.
If you reinsert the Controller, it is automatically loaded
with whichever D-channel protocol was active last, and is
then ready for use.
3.4.4 Enable/Disable Automatic Loading
To enable or disable the automatic loading of the
Controller’s driver software, run the M1 Setup program
in the “AVM” program group. This program allows you to
enable and disable the automatic loading of the Control-
ler. Furthermore, you can set the CAPI SoftCompression
option or change the GSM mobile phone model used with
the M1. Confirm the options by clicking Continue.
Upon closing, the Setup program displays the Controller’s
configuration. Acknowledge this by clicking Continue.
3.4.5 Installing CAPI Applications
After you have installed and started the Controller, you
can install the CAPI applications you want to use with the
Controller. The communications suite FRITZ!GSM, for
example, with program modules for file transfer, telefax
and more, is included with your AVM Mobile ISDN-
Controller M1.
AVM also supplies the ISDN CAPI Port Driver for
Windows 95/98 to connect your computer to the Internet
over ISDN using Windows 98’s TCP/IP stack. This driver
creates virtual modems that applications can use to
connect to Internet, online and BBS services, or for RAS
(Remote Access Service) connections to other computers
over ISDN. The AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver is located on
the Mobile ISDN-Controller M1/M2 CD-ROM in the
folder \PROGRAMS\CAPIPORT\.
