CAPI Features
CAPI offers a number of important features:
• Support for basic call features such as call set-up and
clear-down
• Support for multiple B channels for data and/or voice
connections
• Support for multiple logical data connections within a
single physical channel
• Selection of specific services and protocols on dialing
and in answering incoming calls
• Transparent interface for protocols above OSI Layer 3
• Support for one or several BRIs and PRIs through one
or several ISDN adapters
• Support for multiple concurrent applications
• Message definitions independent of operating sys-
tems
• A message-passing mechanism tailored to specific
operating systems for optimum system integration
• An asynchronous, event-driven mechanism for high
throughput
