8 Controller A1 PCMCIA – 1 Introduction
The following illustration shows a sample installation of the
AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA between ISDN and a laptop.

1.2 Driver Software for the AVM ISDN-
Controller A1 PCMCIA
The driver software controls the signaling processes and da-
ta transmission. The driver software is loaded into the ISDN-
Controller from the PC’s hard disk. This procedure ensures
that the driver software can always the updated without sig-
nificant cost. New features can therefore be added at any
time without the user having to access the hardware of the
controller A1 PCMCIA.
Supported Protocols
The AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA driver software supports
the international D-channel protocol DSS1 (“Euro-ISDN”) and
1TR6 as well as the national protocols ESS5 and NI1 for the
USA.
