50 Controller A1 PCMCIA – 10 Troubleshooting
Error Messages in Windows 98
In Windows 98, no error messages are returned directly by
the operating system. Thus error conditions are not visible
until an application has been opened. Possible error mes-
sages include “CAPI not installed” and “Error 680: no dial
tone”, a message from the Windows Dial-Up Network.
Possible solution: Check the controller A1 PCMCIA configura-
tions in the Windows 98 Device Manager. The Device Manag-
er is located under “Start / Settings / Control Panel / Sys-
tem”. The entry “AVM ISDN-Controller” displays all ISDN-
Controllers installed. Double-click on an ISDN-Controller A1
PCMCIA entry to view the properties of the device. The page
lists all resources currently assigned in the system including
I/O addresses and interrupts. Any resource conflicts in the
system will also be displayed. Should any conflicts exist,
adapt the controller A1 PCMCIA configuration accordingly.
Error messages in Windows 95
Error message: “No Controller-xx with the configured I/O
address <xxx> found.”
Insert the ISDN-Controller into the PCMCIA slot and restart
your computer.
Error message: “The system cannot provide an interrupt.”
Possible cause: All interrupts are assigned.
Solution: Uninstall one of your devices to provide the con-
troller with an interrupt.
Error message: “...at least one application/user task is still
logged on.”
Possible cause: You tried to uninstall the AVM ISDN-Control-
ler A1 PCMCIA while an application (e.g. data transfer or fax
software) was still using the controller.
Solution: Close all active applications which use the control-
ler A1 PCMCIA. You can then the uninstall the controller.
