AVM NDIS WAN CAPI Driver

The AVM NDIS WAN CAPI driver for Windows makes RAS us-

age and dialing into Internet providers via ISDN possible.

NDIS (Network Device Interface Specification) is a standard

for connecting network adapters (hardware) to network pro-

tocols (software). NDIS WAN is a Microsoft extension of this

standard for Wide Area Networking (WAN). The AVM NDIS

WAN CAPI driver therefore allows the AVM ISDN-Controller A1

PCMCIA to be used as a network card, whereby the controller

A1 PCMCIA is activated via the CAPI 2.0 application interface.

Unlike the AVM ISDN CAPI port driver, the AVM NDIS WAN

CAPI driver cannot be controlled by AT commands, but is per-

manently configured to the universal connection standards

(“HDLC” and “PPP over ISDN”).

AVM ISDN TAPI services for CAPI

The AVM ISDN TAPI services for CAPI are drivers which can be

used universally for TAPI applications with AVM ISDN-Con-

trollers in Windows.

TAPI (Telephony Application Programming Interface) is a Mi-

crosoft telephony interface with which telephony applica-

tions can be controlled from Windows. With the help of AVM

ISDN TAPI services for CAPI, telephone calls can be initiated

or voice mail systems controlled. For example, the “Phone

Dialer” integrated in Windows can be used to establish con-

nections with analog or ISDN telephones. The conversation

is then conducted via a sound card and a headset or via loud

speaker and microphone. When working with suitable TAPI

applications, a number of other features can be used, for ex-

ample directly dialing business partners from programs such

as Microsoft Outlook 98.

When combining AVM ISDN-Controllers and the AVM ISDN

TAPI services for CAPI, TAPI applications can be used which

are based on the Microsoft standard TAPI 2.1 or higher.
