Benefits of CAPI
CAPI has involved into an internationally recognized stand-
ard. Key in this development have been the numerous ad-
vantages offered by this uniform interface: independence
from specific manufacturers and therefore high investment
security, a wide range of compatible applications for all
kinds of operating systems and ISDN protocols, etc. ISDN
(Integrated Services Digital Network) is becoming attractive
for an increasing number of companies since it affords fast
and reliable transfer of information in many different forms.
CAPI 2.0 has more than eleven years of experience behind it
on the expanding ISDN market. It contains all the advan-
tages of an open interface and covers most ISDN features.
Since the CAPI application interface handles most ISDN sub-
scriber interface control functions, these no longer have to
be programmed. This simplifies the development of ISDN ap-
plications. Furthermore, applications no longer have to be
tailored to national or manufacturer-specific systems so that
a greater variety of applications is available.
