7.2 Starting Controller A1 PCMCIA
Operation
Insert the ISDN-Controller into the computer’s PCMCIA slot
before starting the computer! This must be done so that the
driver software can be loaded correctly.
Insert the controller A1 PCMCIA into the PCMCIA slot and
start your computer. The AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA
driver software is loaded automatically when Windows 3.x is
started and unloaded automatically when Windows 3.x is
closed.
Automatic loading occurs before programs in the "Startup"
program group are started. This means that CAPI applica-
tions may be included in the “Startup” folder without any
problems.
Starting Operation Manually
When the driver software was installed, the following com-
mand
A1enable -h
was entered in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. This command acti-
vates the AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA in the PCMCIA slot.
Once the AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA has been inserted
into the PCMCIA slot, this command may be entered manu-
ally at the DOS prompt in order to start the card.
Operating the Controller A1 PCMCIA without
Card and Socket Services
The AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA can be operated with or
without card and socket services. For details, please refer to
the following section.
Note that operating the controller without card and socket
services, requires an Intel-compatible PC card interface con-
troller (PCIC). Also, without these services, the controller is
set to a fixed I/O address of 140. Ensure that this value is not
already assigned to other hardware.
