20 Controller A1 PCMCIA – 4 Installing the Driver Software in Windows 98
4.3 Starting Controller A1 PCMCIA
Operation
Loading the Driver Software
If the AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA is inserted in the slot,
the driver software for the controller is loaded automatically
when Windows 98 is started. It is unloaded automatically
when Windows 98 is closed.
Automatic loading occurs before programs in the “Startup”
program group are started. This means that CAPI applica-
tions may be included in the “Startup” folder without any
problems.
Thanks to the Plug and Play functionality of Windows 98, the
drivers are loaded automatically when the ISDN-Controller is
inserted into the slot.
Taking out the Controller
To remove the controller from the PCMCIA slot, proceed as
follows:
1. Click the PC card indicator in the task bar with the
mouse.
2. Click on the “Stop AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA”
menu item.
3. A message appears stating that the card can be re-
moved from the slot. Confirm with “OK” and take the
card out of the slot.
4.4 Changing the Settings
Once installation is complete, you can make the following
changes to the Controller A1 PCMCIA settings:
l D-channel protocol (DSS1, ESS5, NI1)
l activating automatic data compression (CAPI SoftCom-
pression X75/V42bis)
From the “AVM” program group, call up the “A1 PCMCIA Set-
up” program and follow the instructions provided.
