Installing the Driver Software
14 Controller A1 PCMCIA – 3 Installing the Driver Software in Windows 2000
The Hardware Wizard recognizes the AVM ISDN-Control-
ler FRITZ!Card PCMCIA as a new Play and Plug device to
be installed and automatically installs the driver soft-
ware.
The controller A1 PCMCIA driver software is based on
that of the AVM ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card PCMCIA.
This explains why the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard
recognizes and installs the ISDN-Controller as a
FRITZ!Card.
2. You are then asked to provide the information required
for configuration. First specify the D-channel protocol
you want to use. Confirm your selection by clicking
“Next”.
3. In the next “ISDN multi subscriber number (MSN)” win-
dow, enter the multiple subscriber numbers required
and again confirm by clicking “Next”.
The settings made here are only relevant to the NDIS
WAN CAPI driver (Internet, RAS via Dial-Up Network).
The MSNs entered here apply to both incoming and out-
going calls. The first MSN entry applies to the first B-
channel, the second entry to the second B-channel. A
maximum of two B-channels is supported by the AVM
NDIS WAN CAPI driver. If one of the B-channels is al-
ready assigned, the first MSN (standard MSN) is sig-
naled as an outgoing MSN.
Tip: If you enter the same MSN for both B-channels, you
can track the charges incurred using this MSN.
4. The Add/Remove Hardware Wizard will now display for
you the devices which have just been installed: AVM
ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card PCMCIA and AVM NDIS WAN
CAPI driver. Now complete installation by clicking “Fin-
ish”.
After installation, the CAPI 2.0 and the AVM NDIS WAN CAPI
drivers are available. For more detailed information about
the AVM NDIS WAN CAPI driver and the two other AVM sys-
tem drivers, see the chapter “The AVM System Driver” begin-
ning on page 41.
