3 Installing the Driver
Software in Windows 2000
In Microsoft Windows 2000, you install the AVM ISDN-Con-
troller A1 PCMCIA using the drivers delivered with the operat-
ing system. These drivers are AVM drivers which have been
developed in accordance with the Microsoft Windows Driver
Model (WDM). In Windows 2000, the ISDN-Controller is in-
corporated as a network adapter via the NDIS WAN CAPI driv-
er and is managed as such in the Device Manager.
In addition to the NDIS WAN interface, the CAPI 2.0 interface
is made available to the entire system, without the drivers
having to be installed separately. You can therefore use CAPI
2.0-based applications in parallel with Remote Access Ser-
vice or Internet access via the Microsoft Dial-Up Network
without any problem.
The CAPI 2.0 version supplied supports both 16-bit and 32-
bit applications. Applications in DOS boxes are not support-
ed. For more information about CAPI, see the chapter “The
Applications Interface CAPI 2.0” on page 37.
Using the AVM system drivers supplied, you can both surf
the Internet and use Remote Access Service and TAPI with
the AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA. For more detailed infor-
mation about the system drivers, see the chapter “The AVM
System Driver” on page 41.

into your PC, it will be automatically recognized as a Plug
