6.3 Errors Opening the User Interface
If an error message is returned when you open the user inter-
face, please work through the following checklist:
z Make sure that all cable connections are plugged in se-
curely.
z Check the IP settings on the computers connected to
FRITZ!Box Fon ata. The computers must obtain their IP
address from FRITZ!Box Fon ata automatically (see “Set-
ting the IP Address” from page 43).
z If FRITZ!Box Fon ata is connected to a DSL or cable mo-
dem, enter one of the following addresses rather than
“fritz.fonata.box” in the Internet browser:
– 192.168.178.1
– 192.168.179.1
z If FRITZ!Box Fon ata is connected to a router, FRITZ!Box
Fon ata obtains its IP address from the router. Proceed
as follows:
– See the user interface of the router to find out
FRITZ!Box Fon ata’s IP address.
– Enter this IP address in the Internet browser on the
computer you would like to use to open the
FRITZ!Box Fon ata user interface.
