Telephony Scenarios
If you have configured both a fixed-line number and an Inter-
net number in FRITZ!Box Fon ata, you can make calls in all di-
rections:
z from the fixed-line network into the fixed-line network
z from the Internet into the fixed-line network
z from the Internet into the Internet
and receive calls from all directions as well.
Bandwidth Management with FRITZ!Box Fon ata
For connection to a DSL or cable modem, FRITZ!Box Fon ata is
equipped with integrated bandwidth management.
This function ensures that the speech quality during tele-
phone calls over the Internet is not reduced by surfing activi-
ty. FRITZ!Box Fon ata adjusts all uploads and downloads to
the currently available bandwidth. Because FRITZ!Box Fon
ata also places a higher priority on Internet telephony con-
nections over Internet data connections, unwelcome interfer-
ence is largely avoided. However, this is also true for Internet
telephony: once the conversation capacity has been
reached, the remote site will receive a busy signal.
In order to use bandwidth management, you must provide
information about your broadband connection in the “Inter-
net / Account Information” menu of the user interface.
