7.2 Tips & Tricks
This section contains configuration hints for FRITZ!X PC.
Configuration to Ensure a Busy Signal
If you are talking on a given extension when a second caller
dials your number, and you cannot answer the call, the caller
may or may not receive a busy signal, depending on your
FRITZ!X PC settings.
Example: Extension 1 has an active connection. An external
caller dials the MSN assigned to Extension 1. The caller recei-
ves the busy signal only if Extensions 2, 3 and 4 have all be-
en assigned at least one MSN as a dial-in number, and none
of them has been assigned the same dial-in number as Ex-
tension 1.
Modem Software and FRITZ!X PC Extensions
If you have connected a modem to one of your FRITZ!X PC ex-
tensions, please note the following:
Settings that you configure in FRITZ!X PC for the modem’s ex-
tension must be coordinated with settings configured in the
modem software. For example, if you leave the default set-
ting for automatic outside dialing activated for the modem’s
extension, then the modem software should not be set to di-
al an outside line prefix. If you have trouble establishing mo-
dem connections, then make sure the settings in the modem
software match the FRITZ!X PC settings for the modem’s ex-
tension.
This information does not apply to your PC’s direct serial port
connection to FRITZ!X PC. In the FRITZ! modules, you should
deactivate the “Private Branch Exchange (PBX)” option, un-
less your ISDN line is itself a PBX extension.
