Error During Installation: What Now?

In Windows 98, 95 and NT, the “AVM” group also con-

tains the program “FRITZ!X PC Setup”. This program al-

lows you to activate CAPI SoftCompression

X.75/V.42bis.

In the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system, the

“AVM” program group is only installed under “Programs” in

the Start menu when FRITZ!X is installed, and the group con-

tains only the program “FRITZ!X”. The current Readme file

for FRITZ!X PC can be found on the FRITZ!X PC CD in the fold-

er \WINDOWS.2K.

Shortcuts to the FRITZ! modules are found in the “FRITZ!”

program group. The number of FRITZ! modules installed de-

pends on whether you performed the default or the full in-

stallation. For information on features and operation of the

FRITZ! modules, see the chapter “FRITZ!: Internet and ISDN

Software” on page 31 and the FRITZ! manual.

The AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver installation creates new en-

tries under “Modems” in the Windows Control Panel. You

can use these virtual modems in Dial-Up Networking or in

other data communication programs to set up ISDN connec-

tions to your Internet Service Provider (ISP), for example. A

link is created on the desktop to the on-line help file for the

AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver.

3.6 Error During Installation: What Now?

If errors occurred during the software installation and the

software components for FRITZ!X PC were not correctly in-

stalled, proceed as follows:

l Remove all of the installed FRITZ!X PC software compo-

nents by following the instructions in the section “Re-

moving Software Components” on page 28.

l Restart your computer.

l Repeat the complete installation.

If you want to install individual FRITZ!X PC software compo-

nents, read the instructions in the section “Installing Individ-

ual Software Components” on page 26.
