10 FRITZ!X PC – 1 Introduction
1.2 System Requirements
This section describes the conditions that must be met in or-
der to install and use your FRITZ!X PC.
l FRITZ!X PC is designed for use with point-to-multipoint
ISDN lines with the “Euro-ISDN” signaling protocol
DSS1. Connection to other line types is contrary to the
intended use of the product and may cause malfunc-
tions. Trouble-free operation of the product is not guar-
anteed in such cases.
The following minimum PC configuration is required for in-
stallation of the FRITZ! communications software and for In-
ternet access using FRITZ!X PC:
l IBM or 100% compatible PC; Pentium CPU clocked at 90
MHz or higher; at least 16 MB system memory
l CD-ROM drive
l Operating system: Microsoft Windows Me, 98, 95, Win-
dows 2000 (Professional), or Windows NT 4.0 (Worksta-
tion i386)
l A free serial interface (COM port) with a 16550 UART
chip and maximum throughput of at least 115 kbit/s.
PCs manufactured in 1996 or later are generally
equipped with such interface chips. In case of ques-
tions, ask your dealer or the manufacturer of your PC.
