6.4 WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
The FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick N supports the standardized
WPS networking procedure (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). With
WPS you can establish a secure WLAN connection be-
tween your FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick N and your WLAN ac-
cess point. All of the necessary WLAN security settings are
transferred in the process.
When establishing a WLAN connection via WPS you can
use either the push-button or the PIN method:
For the push-button method (WPS-PBC) your WLAN
access point must be equipped with a hardware or
software switch that is used to enable WPS function-
ality.
For the pin method, you enter the PIN specified by the
FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick N in the WPS data of your
WLAN access point.
WPS can be used only in combination with WLAN access
points that also support WPS. See the documentation of
your WLAN access point to find out whether it supports
WPS and which connection methods can be selected.
Establishing WLAN Connections using WPS
Proceed as follows to establish a WLAN connection using
WPS:
1. Double-click the program icon in the notification area
of the Windows task bar to open the FRITZ!WLAN user
interface, and then click the “Find” button.
All WLAN devices found are displayed in the “Find
and Select WLAN Devices” window. The WPS icon in-
dicates which devices support WPS.
