The Journals
FRITZ! – 4 FRITZ!web 27
4.3 The Journals
In FRITZ! all connections and events are recorded in a log. The
logs can be accessed using the context menu of the right
mouse button. Select the command “Journal / Connections”,
for example, to see a list of the connections dialed to all Inter-
net Service Providers. Select “ Journal / Events for information
about key program events, with the date and time they oc-
curred. Such information includes the time at which FRITZ!web
went on standby, and whether a connection was selected.
For more information, see the Online Help.
4.4 AVM WebWatch
You can startAVM WebWatch” by selecting the correspond-
ing command in the FRITZ!web context menu. Then enter the
name of any Internet host and click “Start”.
The program sends ”ping” signals of various packet sizes to
the specified URL. The response times are displayed as curves
in two graphs. The blue curve represents the path from your
computer to your Internet Service Provider, while the orange
curve represents the entire path to the specified URL. To as-
sess the quality of your Internet connection, compare these
curves with the green curve showing a theoretically optimal
connection. The closer the measured results are to the opti-
mal curve, the better your Internet connection.
The optimal curve shows the response times during transmis-
sion without compression. If your measured curves are below
the optimal curve during transmission of larger packets, the
test data will be compressed for transmission.
The right side of the window lists the names of the routers that
forward your computer’s data packets through the Internet.
