Using DSL with the FRITZ!Box
The FRITZ!DSL software includes a number of programs designed for
use with DSL, all of which are introduced briefly in this chapter.
Once you have installed FRITZ!DSL, the “Start Center” icon
appears on your desktop. All of the programs in the soft-
ware package are integrated in the StartCenter, from
where they can be started directly.
The StartCenter contains the following buttons:
The “Internet” button starts the FRITZ!DSL Internet pro-
gram. FRITZ!DSL Internet is the Internet monitoring soft-
ware for your FRITZ!Box, with which you receive more de-
tailed information about your current Internet connection.
The “Protect” button starts the FRITZ!DSL Protect program,
which checks the Internet connections and supplements
the firewall functions of your FRITZ!Box.
Click the “FRITZ!Box” button to open the user interface of
FRITZ!Box in your web browser.
Click the “Update” button to check whether a firmware up-
date for your FRITZ!Box is available on the AVM web site.
The “Diagnosis” button starts the FRITZ!DSL Diagnosis.
This programs displays all relevant data about your DSL
connection and checks the connection to your FRITZ!Box.
A click on the “Web Test” button starts the WebWatch pro-
gram, which can measure the quality of your Internet con-
nection to any remote site.
