Installing the Driver Software
ISDN-Controller B1 PCI v4.0 – 4 Installation in Windows 2000 19
4.1 Installing the Driver Software
Once the AVM ISDN-Controller B1 PCI v4.0 has been installed
in your computer, it will be recognized automatically as a
Plug & Play device. Use the “Found New Hardware Wizard” to
configure the ISDN-Controller for operation. To do so, pro-
ceed as follows:
The following dialogs are part of the Windows 2000 operat-
ing system. Consult the Windows 2000 manual wherever
necessary.
1. Start your computer.
The “Found New Hardware Wizard” recognizes a new
Plug & Play device to be installed.
2. First specify the D-channel protocol to be used. Select
the DSS1 (Euro ISDN) protocol here, even if ESS5 or NI-1
is used on your line.
Select the DSS1 D-channel (Euro ISDN) protocol here,
even if ESS5 or NI-1 is used on your line. Select any oth-
er protocol desired during the driver software update in
the second step of installation.
Confirm your choice by clicking “Next”.
3. Enter the desired multiple subscriber numbers in the
“Phone Number and SPID Information” window.
The settings performed in this dialog are relevant only
for the NDIS WAN CAPI Driver (Internet, RAS over Dial-
Up Networking). They have no effect on other ISDN
software.
The MSNs entered here are valid for both incoming and
outgoing calls. The first MSN entry is valid for the first B
channel; the second for the second B channel. A maxi-
mum of two B channels is supported by the NDIS WAN
CAPI Driver. When a B channel is busy, the first MSN
(default MSN) will be signaled as the outgoing MSN.
Tip: simply enter the same MSN for both B channels to
monitor all costs accrued on this number.
4. Click “Next”.
