4How Alice Works
Using Alice you can establish connections to various remote
sites over the ISDN line or an existing network connection.
Alice can connect to video conference systems, content serv-
ers and remote sites equipped with Alice software or other
software compliant with the international standards H.320
and H.323.
How Alice Works
Alice receives audio data for transmission through a micro-
phone and the full duplex sound card of your computer. In-
coming audio data is transmitted to the speakers via the
sound card.
Alice can receive its own video data via a USB camera or a
video camera with a frame grabber card. A frame grabber
card is a supplementary adapter that transforms an individu-
al image (a frame) from a video source (here the camera) into
digital data. The connected camera provides the video data
for the video interface. This is the interface to the operating
system from which the video data is sent to Alice.
