Configuring Internet Access via Another Router: IP Client
Overview
You can connect the FRITZ!Box as an IP client to a router which
provides the internet connection.
Operating Mode of the FRITZ!Box
The following apply in IP client mode:
• The FRITZ!Box receives an IP address from the upstream router
via DHCP (default setting).
• The FRITZ!Box becomes a part of the router’s IP network.
• The network devices connected to the FRITZ!Box receive their IP
addresses from the upstream router.
• The firewall of the FRITZ!Box is disabled.
Requirements
• The FRITZ!Box is connected with a router that provides the
internet connection; see Connecting to the Internet Access:
Existing Router, page 45.
Instructions: Setting Up Internet Access via LAN (as an IP Client)
1. Open the user interface, see page 63.
2. Select the “Internet / Account Information” menu and the
“Internet Connection” tab.
3. In the “Internet Service Provider” area, select the settings “More
internet service providers” and then “Other internet service
provider”.
4. From the “Connect via” area, select the “Connection to an
external modem or router” option.
5. In the “Operating Mode” menu, select the “Share existing
internet connection in the network (IP client mode)” setting.
6. For further settings, use the online help of the FRITZ!Box.
