Chapter 4: CM401T Master Section 43
Cut Individual CR Speakers
The Control Room speakers can be individually switched on and off. The L, C, R, Sl, Sr, Bm, X and Y keys in the Control Room Output
Panel are lit when on. In addition, the LEDs above the CR Source LCD light to show active speakers.
Mon Lock
The Mon Lock key on the Bus Master Strip disables the Control Room and Monitor levels. Dim and Cut always remain active.
Phase Reversal for Left and Right CR Speakers
The phase of the left Control Room speaker (Main, Alt1, Alt2) can be reversed by selecting the LR Phase key in the Control Room
Output Panel for that output. The LR Phase key lights to indicate the left speaker’s phase is reversed with respect to the right. The
LR Phase LED to the left of the CR Output key also lights.
CR Level
The Control Room speakers (Main, Alt1, Alt2) have a dedicated level knob and output level LCD. The knob LEDs also indicate the
current level.
CR Speakers
The Control Room Monitors have three speaker outputs: Main (7.1), Alt1 (5.1) and Alt2 (stereo). The three switches below CR
Source select between the three speakers; these switches are after the CR level, dim, and cut functions which affect all three
speaker sets.
CR Format Folddown
The Main CR outputs may be folded down from their original format to one with fewer outputs using the keys on the right of the
Control Room Output Panel.
Control Room Insert
This feature supports insertion of a Surround Matrix, equalizer, or compressor across the control room monitors. Activate the CR
Insert switch at the bottom of the CR Output controls.
Calibrated CR Level Controls
Cal Level
The CR level can be set to any true dB value, in the range -30–0 dB, by pressing the Cal button (top right) on the Control Room Out-
put Panel) and using the Jog wheel. The Monitor knob in the CR Output controls can also be used to change the value.
This value persists when rebooting the console and/or loading a new Title.
dB SPL Level
The relative dB SPL value displayed for the Monitor knob can be set by pressing dBSPL button (second from top right) on the Con-
trol Room Output Panel and using the Jog wheel to set a value in the range 65–115 dB (integer values only). This is a relative dB
SPL value of the actual gain set by Cal Level above. This value, always calculated from the actual level using these values as a ref-
erence point, is displayed on the CR Output Controls LCD. For example:
If Cal Level = -10.0 dB and dBSPL = 85, the knob values are in the range 0–95 (85 = -10).
If Cal Level = -0.0 dB and dBSPL = 115, the knob values range from 0–115 (85 = -30, console default).
This value persists when rebooting the console and/or loading a new Title.
