System 5 Digital Audio Mixing System User Guide136
The fader’s ATO setting can be changed “on the fly” to override either Auto or Manual Glide:
1 While holding the fader, press its Select/Punch key.
The red automation LED blinks rapidly.
2 Move the fader until its level intersects with the underlying automation.
The fader automatically punches out.
The ATO setting is not sticky: the current Auto/Manual Glide setting resumes control during the next automation record session.
Knob Glide Modes
If Knob Touch Enabled is active (see page 133), Auto and Manual Glide intercancel: knobs toggle between these values.
Manual Glide functions the same for knobs and faders: After manually punching out with the knob’s Select/Punch or All Match key,
the control uses the time set in the M/Glide field (in the Automation Panel Page 1) to glide from the setting at the punch-out point
to the underlying automation.
To toggle the knob’s Auto/Manual Glide status:
1 Activate Knob Touch Enabled (see page 133).
2 Press and hold down the Wave key.
3 Press the knob’s Func Select key once.
4 Release both keys.
The screen above the Strip indicates the status for the knobs only, not the fader.
Alternately, press the Glide key in the Automation Panel, and then the Knobs key in the All Panel to toggle between Auto (Glide key
lit) and Manual Glide.
Auto-TakeOver is independent of the knob’s Auto/Manual Glide status.
The knob’s ATO setting can be changed “on the fly” to override either Auto or Manual Glide:
1 While holding the knob, press its knob top.
The red automation LED blinks rapidly.
2 Move the knob until its level intersects with the underlying automation.
The knob automatically punches out.
The ATO setting is not sticky: the current Auto/Manual Glide setting resumes control during the next automation record session.
The Glide key in the center section Automation Panel can also toggle the fader’s status:
1 Activate Knob Touch Enabled (see page 133).
2 Press the Glide key so it illuminates.
3 Press the knob.
Toggling the Glide settings is closely related to setting the automation mode. Continuing to hold down the Wave key and repeatedly
pressing the
Func Select key cycles through the automation modes. To toggle the Glide setting, press the Func Select key once and
then release both keys.
