Chapter 26: Making Selections 581
Universe View
The Universe view displays an overview of the entire Pro Tools session above the tracks pane in the Edit
window.
This overview represents audio and MIDI material
on all tracks in the session that are not hidden (in-
cluding tracks that are inactive, or that contain of-
fline clips). The order in which material is dis-
played in the Universe view corresponds to the
track order in the Edit window.
In the Universe view, audio, MIDI, and video clips
on tracks are represented by horizontal lines that
are the same colors as the clips on the tracks. Each
audio track is represented at the same height re-
gardless of how many channels it has. Addition-
ally, tracks that show Automation, Controller, or
Playlist lanes are represented with increasing
height for each lane shown.
Since Auxiliary Input, Master Fader, and VCA
Master tracks do not contain audio or MIDI clips,
they are displayed as blank areas in the Universe
view.
