System Requirements
Compatibility Information
Digidesign can only assure compatibility and
provide support for hardware and software it
has tested and approved. For a list of Digidesign-
qualified computers, operating systems, and
third-party devices, refer to the latest compati-
bility information on the Digidesign Web site
(www.digidesign.com).
Computer Requirements
Pro Tools|24 MIX and Pro Tools|24 systems can
be used with a Digidesign-qualified Windows or
Macintosh computer running Pro Tools TDM
software, subject to the following requirements:
Windows
•A Digidesign-qualified, single processor
Pentium III or Pentium 4-based computer
(Pentium 4 highly recommended)
• VIA Apollo Pro133 chipset (for Pentium III)
or
Intel 860 or 850 chipsets (for Pentium 4)
•Award BIOS
•Windows XP Professional or Home Edition, or
Windows 2000 Professional Edition with Ser-
vice Pack 2 or higher
• At least 256 MB RAM (Additional RAM is re-
quired for sessions with high edit density, ex-
tensive automation or real-time plug-ins, and
addition of options such as MachineControl,
DigiTranslator, and AVoption|XL)
•A CD-ROM or equivalent optical drive
• An AGP display card is strongly recom-
mended
•A color display with a minimum resolution of
1024 x 768
•1 unused PCI slot for Pro Tools|24 MIX
•2 unused adjacent PCI slots for
Pro Tools|24 MIXplus and Pro Tools|24
•3 unused adjacent PCI slots for
Pro Tools|24 MIX

• For higher track counts, 1 unused PCI card
slot for a Digidesign-approved SCSI HBA.
• QuickTime 5 for Windows 2000
• Pro Tools TDM 5.3.1 (included)
For Expanded Systems
•With an Expansion Chassis, a single unused
PCI slot in the computer is required; all
Pro Tools cards are placed in the chassis.
Macintosh
On Mac OS X:
•A Digidesign-qualified Power Macintosh G4
• Mac OS X 10.2.3
• At least 384 MB RAM; 512 MB recommended
(Additional RAM is required for sessions with
high track count, high edit density, extensive
automation or real-time plug-ins, and addi-
tion of options such as MachineControl and
DigiTranslator)
• An iLok is required to authorize some plug-ins
•Pro Tools TDM 6.0 (included)
•ATTO ExpressStripe disk utility software (in-
cluded with Pro Tools 6.0)
The maximum number of Pro Tools|24 and
Pro Tools|24 MIX cards supported in an ex-
pansion chassis is seven. There may be fur-
ther restrictions depending on your operat-
ing system and the specific model of your
expansion chassis. For more information,
