In the Extensions Manager Control Panel,
choose the “Mac OS 9.2.2 Base” set from the Se-
lected Set pop-up menu.

Click Duplicate Set, name the new set
“Pro Tools,” and click OK.

Click Restart to restart your computer.
Installing Pro Tools Software
After the Apple System software settings are con-
figured, you’re ready to install Pro Tools.
Installing Pro Tools on Mac OS X
To install Pro Tools on Mac OS X:

Make sure you are logged in as an Administra-
tor for the account where you want to install
Pro Tools. For details on Administrator privi-
leges in Mac OS X, refer to your Apple OS X doc-
umentation.

Insert the Pro Tools 6.0 Installer CD-ROM in
your CD-ROM drive. Double-click “Install
Pro Tools.”

Enter your Administrator password and click
OK to authenticate the installation.

Select the Pro Tools 6.0 Installer. You can also
select from a list of optional items to install
along with Pro Tools. Click the information but-
ton next to each item for a description of its
contents.

Click Install.

Select your work environment. This loads an
initial set of Pro Tools Preferences that include
some of the more popular settings for post pro-
duction, audio, or audio with MIDI.

Select whether to install the Surround Mixer
plug-in. This plug-in is required for mixing,
mastering, and monitoring in surround:
• Select “Yes – Monitoring in Standard
Pro Tools (Film Format)” if your monitor-
ing is configured for Film Format surround.
• Select “Yes – Monitoring in ProControl
(DTS Format)” if you are using a ProCon-
trol dedicated controller.
• Select “No – Stereo mixing only” if your
monitoring is configured for Stereo.

Click Continue.

When installation is complete, click Restart.

Click Continue to install any additional soft-
ware or documentation, and restart your com-
puter when you are finished.
Extensions Manager Control Panel
After you install Pro Tools, a number of
Digidesign extensions will be added to the
new “Pro Tools” Extension Set. Be sure this
“Pro Tools” Extension Set is activated
whenever you use Pro Tools.
Preference settings can be customized at any
time in Pro Tools. See the Pro Tools Refer-
ence Guide for more information about Pref-
erences.
