Getting Started with MIX12
3 Under Performance, click Settings.
4 Click the Advanced tab.
5 Under Processor Scheduling, select Back-
ground Services.
6 Under Memory Usage, select System Cache.
7 Click OK twice. You will need to restart your
computer for the changes to take effect.
To disable System Startup Items:
1 From the Start menu, choose Run.
2 Type “msconfig” and click OK.
3 Under the General tab, chose Selective Star-
tup.
4 Deselect Load Startup Items and click OK.
5 Click Restart to restart the computer.
6 After restarting your computer, a System Con-
figuration message dialog will come up. It is rec-
ommended that you first try Pro Tools to see if
performance has increased before you deselect
the “Don't Show this Message Again” option. If
performance has not changed, run “msconfig”
and return your computer Selective Startup back
to Normal Startup.
Pro Tools Hardware Overview
The number of Pro Tools TDM cards in your sys-
tem depends on the type of core system you
have. Card components for each core system
configuration are listed below.
Pro Tools|24 MIX-series Hardware
Pro Tools|24 MIX hardware is available in the
following configurations:
Pro Tools|24 MIX Includes a single MIX Core
card and a 5-node TDM ribbon cable for con-
necting other optional TDM-equipped cards
Pro Tools|24 MIXplus Includes a MIX Core card,
a MIX Farm card, and a 5-node TDM ribbon ca-
ble for connecting the MIX Core to the MIX
Farm and other optional TDM-equipped cards
Pro Tools|24 MIX

Includes a MIX Core card,
two MIX Farm cards, and a 5-node TDM ribbon
cable for connecting the MIX Core to the MIX
Farm and other optional TDM-equipped cards
