On Mac OS 9:
•A Digidesign-qualified Power Macintosh
Mac OS 9.2.2
•At least 256 MB RAM; Virtual Memory is not
supported
Additional RAM is required for sessions with
high track count, high edit density, extensive
automation or real-time plug-ins, and addi-
tion of options such as MachineControl,
DigiTranslator, and AVoption|XL: 384 MB
RAM recommended.
•A Digidesign-qualified floppy drive, along
with the appropriate driver software (included
on the Pro Tools Installer CD-ROM) is re-
quired to authorize some plug-ins
Pro Tools TDM 5.1.3 (included)
The following utility software (included with
Pro Tools 5.1.3):
OMS (Open Music System) software ver-
sion 2.3.8 or later
Apple QuickTime System Extension ver-
sion 4.1.2 or later
•ATTO ExpressPro-Tools version 2.3.2 or
later
On all Macintosh systems:
•A CD-ROM drive or equivalent optical drive
•A color display with a minimum resolution of
1024 x 768
One unused PCI slot for Pro Tools|24 MIX
•Two unused adjacent PCI slots for
Pro Tools|24 MIXplus and Pro Tools|24

For higher track counts, 1 unused PCI card
slot for a Digidesign-approved SCSI HBA.
For Expanded Systems
•With an expansion chassis, a single unused
PCI slot in the computer is required; all
Pro Tools cards are placed in the chassis.
Hard Drive Requirements
For optimal audio recording and playback, all
Pro Tools TDM systems require one or more
Digidesign-qualified drives.
Drive Formats
Windows
Windows XP systems should use drives
formatted with FAT32 or NTFS file system (NTFS
preferred).
Macintosh
Macintosh systems should use drives
formatted with HFS or HFS+ file system only.
Hard drive performance depends on factors in-
cluding system configuration, number of tracks,
session sample rate, density of edits, and the use
of crossfades and other processes such as Beat
Detective in a session.
The maximum number of Pro Tools|24 and
Pro Tools|24 MIX cards supported in an ex-
pansion chassis is seven. There may be fur-
ther restrictions depending on your operat-
ing system and the specific model of your
expansion chassis. For more information,

The UNIX File System (UFS) is not sup-
ported with Pro Tools on Mac OS X.
