Automation and Mixing
This chapter shows how to control automation settings and how to pan in multichannel for sur-
round.
Enabling and Suspending Automation
You can control many Pro Tools automation settings directly from the Touchscreen on MC Control
and other units.
To open the Automation window using MC Control:
In the Soft Keys Home page, press the Auto key. (By default, this key appears in the Soft Key Home
page.) The Automation window opens on-screen, and the Touchscreen displays automation controls.
To enable or disable automation types:
1 Press the Auto Soft Key.
2 Press the Touchscreen button for the desired parameter. For example, to toggle Volume automation
enabled/suspended, press the Soft Key ENABLE VOLUME.
Track Automation Mode Selection
To select the Automation mode for a track on MC Control or MC Mix:
1 Hold SHIFT while pressing the REC/AUTO key on a track.
2 Press SHIFT+REC/AUTO again to cycle to the next available automation mode such as Off, Read,
Latch, or Touch. Not all modes will be available; for additional modes, use the mouse and the on-
screen track Automation mode selector.
