Chapter 1: Introduction to the DF70
The DF70 is a high-capacity audio DSP core for the System 5
and MaxAir console families. The DF70 fulfills a similar func-
tion as the DF66, but allows larger path counts on the
System 5 mixing console.
Features of the DF70 include:
• 5U chassis, including Digital Pilot
• Available only with eight 120MHz DSP cards
• Up to 454 channels at 48 KHz
• Up to 222 channels at 96 KHz
• Up to 96 mix busses
• 32 fully routable MADI ins and outs
• Redundant power supplies
• Models with bus processing available, including limiter
capability (results in lower channel counts)
• Can be used in a full hardware redundancy system

Compatibility
Avid can only assure compatibility and provide support for
hardware and software it has tested and approved.
The following are required to use the DF70:
• Control modules must have latest Advantech SBC's with
1GB RAM minimum
• Studio Computer must be an SC264 with 2GB RAM (the
SC263 will work with smaller automation files)
