Changing Windows Server Settings on Each Node
Revision 4 and later images for the AS3000 Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard includes system
settings that previously required manual changes. For information about these settings, see
“Windows Server Settings Included in Revision 4 and Later Images” on page 116.
Removing the Application Server role is now recommended. See
“Removing the Application
Server Role from Each Node” on page 38
.
n
Disabling IPv6 completely is no longer recommended. IPv6 is enabled in Rev. 4 and later
images. However, binding network interface cards (NICs) to IPv6 is not recommended. See
“Configuring the Public Network Adapter on Each Node” on page 47.
n
At the first boot after installing a Rev. 4 or later image, unique GUIDs are assigned to the
network adapters used by the failover cluster. The registry might show the same GUID on
different servers. This GUID is not used and you can ignore it.
Removing the Application Server Role from Each Node
This procedure is now recommended when preparing an SR2500 or AS3000 for Windows Server
2008 and an Interplay Engine cluster.
To remove the Application Server role:
1. On node 1, Click Start > All Programs> Administrative Tools > Server Manager.
2. Click Roles on the left side of the window.
3. Click Remove Roles.
The Remove Roles dialog box opens. Click Next.
4. Uncheck Application Server.
5. Click Next, then click Remove.
6. Follow the system prompts to remove the role. After you click the Close command, the
server restarts and displays a confirmation window that reports the successful removal.
7. Repeat this procedure on node 2.
