User’s Manual—SNAP™ 500 Adidas Printer
The Upper and Lower Print Stations on the AVERY DENNISON SNAP 500
printer are stationary. The main feed is the print roller located in the upper print
station. (See Figure 10). The rollers swing open and closed for threading and
printing. These rollers are held in position for printing with latches on both the
inside and outside end of the rollers. This roller must be closed in order for the
tape to feed through the printer.
NOTE: The upper print roller must be closed in order for
the printer to operate. If you are printing two-sided labels,
both print rollers must be closed in order for the printer to
operate. If a two-sided label design is sent to the printer
and the lower print roller is open, the Error LED will light
up and the printer will stop. If you are printing single-
sided labels, the lower print roller should remain open so
the ink rolls will not rotate.
The Auxiliary Feed is the assembly located in front of the knife. It works with
the main feed or the upper print roller to maintain proper tension of the tape as it
moves through the printer from the top print station into the Knife and Nip
rollers. The Auxiliary Feed has a knob, which is used to manually advance the
material through the knife, the nip roller, and into the stacker.
New rolls of Supply Tape are sealed and packaged individually. When you are
ready to load the tape, remove the packaging and follow the steps below.
1. Remove the transparent tape holding the end of the supply tape to the outer
part of the roll. To avoid damaging the rollers or print heads, use scissors to
cut off any portion of the supply tape that has adhesive on it.
2. Rotate the knob counterclockwise to retract the ”fingers.”
3. To install the tape supply roll, begin with the leading end at the top of the
roll.
4. Slide the tape supply roll onto the Tape Arbor (see Figure 9).
5. Rotate the knob clockwise quickly to extend the retraction fingers that hold
the supply roll in place.
6. With both print rollers in the open position, pull the tape from the top of the
supply roll.
