Interface Overview Introduction Now, with this product, you can watch TV, listen to the radio, record your favorite programs and enjoy other features on your PC. Turn your computer system into a real multimedia entertainment center. You’ll never miss your favorite ball games, soaps or game shows anymore because the TimeShift function performs background recording of a TV program. This means you can return and watch from the part of the program where you left off.
AVerQuick allows setting the desired default application, which means you can choose either AVerTV 3D or AVer MediaCenter as the defaultapplication when double clicking AVerQuick icon . Activating the AVerTV 3D Application for the First Time If this is your first time running the application, the Setup dialog box will appear to prompt you to scan for channels.
. Select Digital TV or Digital Radio from the Program List area. 6. Click New and the Program List dialog box appears. Type in the desirable name and click OK. 7. Click Satellite Setup to configure Satellite TV settings. 8. Configure the information of Satellite Name and LNB Setup. If you use a switch, select the Switch Type and Input port number; otherwise, ignore them. Then click Insert. 9. Repeat the previous step if you want to add more other satellites for channel scanning.
10. Click OK. 11. Click Program Scan to search for available channels/programs in your area. 12. After scanning, the active TV channels will be listed inside the box. 13. Digital channels that are in red text indicate they are encrypted channels (e.g. pay TV channels). 14. Click Apply to save the scanned channels. 15. Click OK to exit the current dialog box.
TV monitor The TV monitor allows you to watch live TV or video. The TV monitor in default simple mode only shows a few main buttons. Click and drag the Resize Window icon at the lower right corner of the TV monitor to enlarge it and see all buttons.
The Control Panel provides button controls for selecting channels, adjusting volume, capturing images, and more. It has a panel display that shows the current channel number and channel name. Resizing the TV Monitor Window To enlarge or reduce the size of the TV Monitor window • Click and drag the lower right corner of the window. To enter the full screen mode • Double-click the TV Monitor window to display it in full screen. or • Click the Full Screen button on the Control Panel. To exit full screen mode • Double-click anywhere on the screen to revert to the default TV Monitor window size.
Basic Operations Watching TV To watch TV, please first make sure you select the correct Country/Region, configure all the required setup steps for satellite TV, and scan the channels. What you can watch depends on the product you purchase and the TV signals available from your local television service providers.

Adding a New Satellite If you do not find the satellite you need from the default Satellite Name list, you can add the desired satellite yourself. Modifying Satellite Data AVerTV 3D comes with a default frequency table for those default satellites and will use this table to search for active programs or channels. If you want to modify these default data, please follow the instructions below: on the 1. Click the Setup button control panel and select Setup. 2. Choose an available AVerMedia device in the left pane (for example, AVerMedia R889). 3. Select the correct Country/Region. 4. Select Program on the left pane. 5.
14. Click Advanced Settings and you can see the default frequency table for the chosen satellite in Frequency List section. 15. Select one of the frequencies in the list to modify the satellite and frequency data. • If you do not find the frequency you need, you can add it yourself. Please refer to Basic Operations > Watching TV > Adding a Frequency. • If you have the existing frequency data to be imported, refer to Basic Operations > Watching TV > Importing Frequency Data. 16.

Adding a Frequency AVerTV 3D comes with a default frequency table for those default satellites and will use this table to search for active programs or channels. If you do not find the frequency you need, you can add it yourself. To add a frequency on the 1. Click the Setup button control panel and select Setup. 2. Configure Frequency, FEC, Symbol Rate, Polarization, etc. 17. Click Insert to add the frequency you need to the list.

Click OK to save the settings and leave Satellite Setup dialog box. Click Cancel to abort without saving. 21. Click Program Scan to start the scanning process. Importing Frequency Data If you have an existing frequency data (*ini) to be imported for channel scanning, please follow the instructions below: on the 1. Click the Setup button control panel and select Setup. 2. Select an available AVerMedia device in the left pane (for example, AVerMedia R889). 3. Select the correct Country/Region. 4. Select Program on the left pane. 5. Select the Digital TV option to search only for digital TV channel or select Digital Radio to scan for digital radio channels only. 6.
14. Click Import and the Import dialog box appears. 15. Click Browse and the Open dialog box appears. 16. Select the desired channel data and click Open. 17. Determine how to import the data file by choosing the desired Import Options. The options are explained below: • Import to program list: This option adds the program data from the imported file into the selected input port’s program list. With this option enabled, you can access the newly added programs without re-scanning the programs.
18. Click OK to import the file and leave Import dialog box. Click Cancel to abort without saving. 19. Then you can see the imported program or frequency data based on what you have imported. • If you want to modify the satellite or frequency data, please refer to Basic Operations > Watching TV > Modifying Satellite Data. • If you do not find the frequency you need, you can add it yourself. Please refer to Basic Operations > Watching TV > Adding a Frequency. 20.
Adjusting Volume • On the Control Panel, click and drag your mouse over the Volume knob to increase or decrease the volume level. You can also press the + / – keys on the numeric keypad to adjust the volume. or 1. Right click on the TV monitor. Selecting a TV Channel There are three ways of switching between TV channels: on the 1. Click the Program List button control panel and select Program List. 2. Adding and Deleting Program Lists A program list allows you to switch only among the selected channels when pressing the Channel Up/Down button. To add a new program list and select 1. Available channels will then be listed in the Program Information and now you can delete the unwanted programs by clearing the check box. 6. If you don’t want to scan programs every time creating a new program list, you can use Copy function. To use Program List Copy function 1.
Specifying a Channel Name or Description To assign a channel name or specify a description and select 1. Click the Setup button Setup. Then choose your desired signal input on the left pane. 2. Under the Name column, double-click the text box of the channel you want to assign a name or description. 3. Type in the channel name or description, and then press Enter. or and select 1. Modifying a Program List Name To rename a program list 1. Click the Setup button left pane. 2. Click Advance. and select Setup. Then choose your desired signal input on the 3. Changing Signal Source To change signal source 1. Click and drag the Source Switch on the control panel. 2.
Enabling Subtitle Function If your local broadcasters provide subtitle service, you can view those texts. To enable subtitle 1. Right click the TV screen. In the pop-up menu, point to Subtitle and choose the desired language. 2. To hide the subtitle, please right click the TV screen, point to Cancel Subtitle and choose Exit. Creating Channel Groups To add a new channel group • Click the Program List button on the control panel. Select Program Group. Then click the Setup button .

Fine Tuning Color of the Display To adjust the color or picture quality of the TV display 1. Right click on the TV monitor. When a pop-up menu appears, select Individual Channel Setting. or on the Click Program List button control panel and then click Individual Channel Setting button . 2. Multi-Channel Preview The multi-channel preview function can display 4~64 TV channels on-screen at the same time. (By default, 16 TV channels will be displayed.) You can see clearly which TV programs are currently showing on these channels. To select the channels for preview and select 1. Click the Setup button Setup. Then choose an available AVerMedia device on the left pane. 2. Then select your desired signal input. 3.
To preview the channels: 1. Click the Multi-Channel Preview button. The screen will be gradually filled up with TV channels, starting from the currently selected channel. Note: By default, 16 TV channels will be displayed. To modify the preview cell numbers, please refer to the section To modify the Multi-Channel Preview settings below. 2. Select a channel and press the numeric button “5” on the remote control to view it only and freeze the other channels.
To modify the Multi-Channel Preview settings and select 1. Click the Setup button Setup > Multi-Channel Preview. 2. Here you can determine preveiw cell numbers from the drop-down menu (2x2~8x8). 3. You can also specify the preview delay time (1~99 sec) in the text box. 4. Select the check box if you want to mute the audio when previewing channels, always start multi-channle preview in full screen, or always start multi-channel preview from the first channel.
EPG (Electronic Program Guide) Digital EPG Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is a service that allows you to check the next succeeding program schedule and even the program schedules of the whole week. If the EPG service is provided in your region/country, you can use the EPG function of AVerTV 3D. To open the EPG window 1. Click the EPG button panel. on the control or Right click on the TV monitor and select EPG. 2.
EPG language. For non-multi-language EPG data, this function will be disabled. 5. Click Display Mode to sort the EPG list by time or by channel. To use EPG function, please make sure that the EPG GMT settings is correct. 1. Click on the control panel and select Setup. 2. Click Digital TV on the left pane. 3. Click Advance. 4. In the Advance Program Configuration window, click the desired channel. 5.
TimeShift The TimeShift function performs background recording of a TV/Radio program, and lets you return and watch any part of the recorded program. At the same time, the live TV/Radio program continues to be recorded and played back so you won’t miss any part of the show. You can also advance forward to skip commercials or rewind to replay scenes one more time.
Customizing TimeShift Settings Before you start using the TimeShift function, first check if its recording settings meet your needs. To check and customize settings: 1. Click the Setup button and select Setup > Storage. 2. By default, TimeShift performs recording of the TV program by creating a temporary video file and deletes this file once you click the Stop button. 3. In the Record section, you can determine your file name format, recording time, file size and destination folder. 4.
Using the TimeShift Function To pause the live program 1. Click the TimeShift button on the Control Panel. The application will begin to record the program. 2. When you want to rewind, use the Playback Seek slider bar to move back to the part you want to watch or listen again. Click and drag your mouse over the slider tab to the left until you see the part of the show you wish to watch or listen, and then release the mouse button. 3.
Recording and Playback You can use your computer as a digital video recorder, and record your favorite TV programs or capture video from an external source to your hard drive. You can also divide the recording files in proper sizes to facilitate burning onto removable optical media, such as CD-R and DVD discs. Recording Controls Use the following button controls for recording and video playback. BUTTON FUNCTION 1 Snapshot Capture a single image or a sequence of images.
Recording Settings Before recording, check if the settings meet your needs. 1. Click the Setup button and select Setup > Storage. 2. By default, the system sets the recording Date and Time as the file name format. To create your own file name format, please click Custom. 3. The Duration option allows you to specify a recording duration; otherwise, the system will record the largest clip that your hard drive can accommodate. 4.
Playing a Recorded Program Each TV program that you recorded will be saved as a video file in the assigned destination folder. BUTTON FUNCTION 1 Play Previous File Click to go to the previous video file in the playlist. 2 Full Screen Show TV/Video programs in full screen. 3 Play /Pause Click to play back / Click to temporarily freeze the playback. 4 Playback Seek Drag the slider tab to move to any part of the recorded file. 5 Stop Click to stop recording or playback.
• Drag the recorded video file to AVerTV desktop icon to run the application and play back. or 1. Click the Play List button , and you may see some recorded video files are listed at the top right pane of the Playback List window. 2. To add more video files to the playback list, first navigate the file on the left pane to find the folder that contains the desired video files. When you have located the folder, the media files will then be displayed on the right top pane.
You can change the fast-forward playback speed when playing back the recorded video files: • Right click on the playback slider, and select the speed you want in the forward speed list. or 1. Click on the Fast Play Speed Loop icon at the right end of the slider. Click to switch to the next speed level based on the sequence in the playback speed list. 2. In fast-forwarding playback mode, Play button will be shown as Pause.
By default, you will be able to play back recorded video files on the main window, and simultaneously, watch live TV on the PIP window. To switch the video playback to the PIP window and the live TV to the main window to fix the size of the PIP window and • Press the button . Note: If you choose Watch TV from the drop-down menu, after completing the Silent Record task, the icon will appear on the task bar (the lower right corner of the screen). Just double-click this icon, you can immediately watch live TV or listen to the radio. 6.
Image Capture While you watch TV or a recorded video on your PC monitor, you can use the AVerTV 3D application to capture images for your documents, presentations or web pages. Setting the Destination Folder Before you start capturing images, first set the destination folder for saving captured images. To set the destination folder 1. Click the Setup button 2. Then click and select Setup > Snapshot. to choose a folder where you want to save captured images.
To save the captured image 1. Select the thumbnail of the image. 2. Click the Save As button . 3. The Save As dialog box appears. 4. From the File Format drop-down menu, select the format for saving the captured image. 5. Select the Color Bit-Depth format. The options depend on the chosen file format. 6. Select 24-bit to capture image in 16M colors. 7. Select 8-bit to capture image in 256 colors. 8. Click Browse to scan for folders and select a destination location for saving the image.
Multiple Image Sequence Capture To capture a continuous sequence of images 1. Click the Setup button Setup > Snapshot. and select 2. In the Number of Pictures box, specify the number of images you want to capture. 3. In the IntervalTime box, specify the interval between captures. For instance, if you specify 10 seconds, an image will be captured every 10 seconds. 4. Select the file format and destination folder, file name format and image resolution. 5. Click Apply to save the new settings.
3DTV AVerMedia is honored to present to you the latest 3D TV watching technology in the latest version of AVerTV 3D. Not only are you able to watch the vivid representation of programs with 3D sources, but also transform a 2D TV program into a 3D one via the 3D simulation technology by AVerTV 3D.
3. Different kinds of 3D glasses The stereoscopic 3D technology described above requires the help of the 3D glasses, either passive or active ones, to properly filter the signals and then send the correct image to each eye to recreate the binocular vision. The most commonly seen passive glasses are those with a pair of red and blue (or green) lenses. The color filtered image is then perceived by each eye to produce the three-dimensional effects.
3D Watching Operations Before watching 3DTV, please make sure you finish the scanning channels and setup process (please refer to the section Scanning Channels for more information). Watching in 3D Mode Before watching in 3D Mode, first configure the 3D Setting 1. Click the Setup button Setup > 3D Setting. and select 2. Try and select the correct 3D layout (Side-By-Side/Top-Bottom) and R/L View based on your 3D source. 3.
1. During 3D watching, operations such as channel switch, TimeShift are not available except for volume control. 2. To control 3D functions (3D View / 3D Record / see3D View / see3D Record) with the remot control, please first remap the remote keys. • Go to Set up stereoscopic 3D and check Enable stereoscopic 3D to activate 3D relevant settings. Watching a 3D Source TV Program in 2D Mode If you prefer 2D TV watching for a live 3D source TV program, follow the instructions below to turn a 3D source TV program in 2D. Before watching in 3D-to-2D Mode, first configure the 3D Setting 1. Click the Setup button Setup > 3D Setting. and select 2. Select 2D from the Display Mode drop-down menu. 3.
To watch a 3D Source TV Program in 2D Mode after setup 1. Switch to the channel of 3D source. 2. Click 3D icon on the control panel. 3. Select View to start. 4. To end 3D watching, double click on the screen, press Esc key on your keyboard, or use the Back key on the remote control. Watching a 2D Source TV Program in 3D Illusion via AVerTV 3D AVerTV 3D allows you to enjoy the 3DTV watching fun even with the common 2D source TV programs.
3. Select a value from both the drop-down menu of Depth Field and Depth Position to your liking. 4. The value of Depth Field that you choose alters the sharpness and focus of the images represented on your PC screen, so the higher value you choose, the deeper of the image effects the see3D simulates. 5. The value of Depth Position that you choose alters the distance you perceived between the images represented on your PC screen and yourself.
Recording a 3DTV Program To record a 3DTV program 1. If the screen hasn’t gone into 3D watching full screen mode, click 3D / see3D icon on the control panel and select Record to start. 2. To end 3D recording, double click on the screen, press Esc key on your keyboard, or use the Back key on the remote control. 1. The screen goes into full screen mode after you start recording. 2. Please DO NOT exit full screen mode during 3D video recording or the recording will be stopped. 3.
3. Select a value from both the drop-down menu of Depth Field and Depth Position to your liking. 4. Click Apply to save the setting and click OK to exit the dialog box. Playing a Recorded 3DTV Program 1. Play a recorded 2D source TV program (please refer to the section Recording and Playback for details). 2. Click see3D icon on the control panel. 3. Select View to start watching a 2D program in 3D mode. 4.
Advanced Operations TV Settings Enhancing the Video Quality To enhance the video quality • Right click on the TV monitor and select Individual Channel Setting. or and select • Click Setup button Individual Channel Setting. 1. Choose a desired option from the Video Quality Enhancement drop-down menu. • Enable: Activate to improve the video quality. • Disable: Disable the video quality enhancement function.
Using the De-interlace Function The de-interlace function can remove the jagged edges of images in serial rapid movement. It is recommended using this function to ensure smooth and clear video images. To use the de-interlace function • Right click on the TV monitor and select Individual Channel Setting. or on the 1. Recording Settings To customize the video record settings 1. Click the Setup button and select Setup. Then choose your desired signal input on the left pane. 2. Select Record Format. 3. Select the video file format for saving the recorded video file. 4. Use the default format or select New to create your own file format. 5. If you click New, the Format dialog box appears. In the Format dialog box, select the file format you want and enter the desired name in the text box. Click Next. 6.
Customizing Video Record Formats The WMA/WMV files are allowed to be customized. To customize WMA/WMV files 1. Follow the previous steps in “To customize the video record settings”, but choose the WMA/WMV file format in step 3. 2. Click New. In the Format dialog box, select the WMA/WMV file format and enter the desired name in the text box. Click Next. 3. In Video dialog box, select a profile. or Click Add button to create a customized format.
4. After you click Add, you will see the Record Format dialog box (as shown at right). Here you can create your preferred video and audio configurations for video recording. Then, click Save>Finish. To determine the length of recording and to choose a destination folder in which to save the recorded audio, please refer to the section titled Recording and Playback > Recording Settings.
The MP4-H.264 file is allowed to be customized. To customize MP4-H.264 file 1. Follow the previous steps in “To customize the video record settings”, but choose the MP4-H.264 file format in step 3. 2. Click New. In the Format dialog box, select the MP4-H.264 file format and enter the desired name in the text box. Click Next. 3. You will see the Video dialog box appears (as shown at right).
