Chapter 5: Upgrading an R6.1 system to
R6.2
This chapter provides the procedures to upgrade a B5800 Branch Gateway deployed in the distributed
branch user model from R6.1 to R6.2.
The procedures in this chapter are performed using both IP Office Manager that is connected directly to
the B5800 Branch Gateway system and Avaya Aura
®
System Manager where some procedures are
performed from the System Manager Web console.
Upgrade installation checklist
Use this checklist to monitor your progress as you upgrade an R6.1 B5800 Branch Gateway
system to an R6.2 system.

Description Section
1 Confirm that your version of Avaya
Aura
®
System Manager is R6.2
and SP1 has been installed.
2 Create a backup of each B5800
Branch Gateway.
See Creating a backup of the system
configuration using IP Office Manager on
page 215.
3 Upgrade the B5800 Branch
Gateway. The upgrade wizard
upgrades all of the B5800 Branch
Gateway components including
the modules, cards, and phone
firmware.

4 Upgrade the administration
applications.
See Upgrading the administration
applications on page 90.
5 Export users to an xml file.

before you launch the Initial
Installation Utility. After you
