8. Check the air shutter following the directions below.

Air Shutter Adjustment

Let the heater burn for fifteen minutes (make sure the logs and glass are in place). The flames should

be yellow with no sooting. Adjust the air shutter, if necessary, to achieve the correct looking flame.

Correct

Flames should be blue at the

base, yellow-orange on the top.

If the flames are over 14" tall or sooty on

the ends, open the air shutter.

Not Enough Air

If the flames are all blue and

short, close the air shutter.

Too Much Air

Front Air Shutter Adjustment

The front burner air shutter may be adjusted while the burner is on (take care to prevent contacting the

burner area).

Left = Less Air

Right = More Air

Rear Burner Air Shutter Adjustment

The rear burner air shutter is accessed by removing the front burner and rear log shelf (see "LP

Conversion Instructions" on page 52 for details). After adjusting the air shutter, replace the burner,

logs, and glass and verify the flame quality.

This gap is the air shutter opening.

Rear Burner Air Shutter

Loosen the screw on the air

shutter and rotate the air shutter.

For LP Units:

Start with the rear air shutter

set to a 3/16" opening.
