Whether you have a Class/ Division
or Zone rated area, P+F has a purge
or pressurization system designed for
you. Here in the US, the National Elec-
tric Code (NEC) denes Hazardous
Locations using the Class / Division
method. Here are 3 examples of P+F
Bebco purge types for Class / Division
rated locations.
Type X P+F Bebco Purge System:
The Type X purge system reduces
the classication within the protected
enclosures from Division 1 to non-haz-
ardous. General-purpose equipment
can be operated within the protected
enclosure in a Class I or II Division 1
location.
Type Y P+F Bebco Purge System:
The Type Y purging system reduces
the classication within the protected
enclosure from Division 1 to Division 2.
All equipment used within the enclo-
sure must be Division 2 rated.
Type Z P+F Bebco Purge System:
The Type Z purge system reduces
the classication within the protected
enclosure from Division 2 to non-haz-
ardous. General-purpose equipment
can be operated within the protected
enclosure in a Class I or II Division 2
location.

P+F Bebco
EPS® Division
Products are
designed to
supply one or
more protected
enclosures with clean instrument air or
an inert gas. Purge and pressurization
is one of the most exible EX protec-
tion methods, because it allows the
use of non-EX rated electrical equip-
ment to be utilized within the hazard-
ous area. This process removes
ammable gases or prevents the ac-
cumulation of ignitable dusts within the
protected enclosure. This method of
protection is not limited by the quantity,
conguration, power requirements, or
location of the protected equipment.
These purge systems are commonly
used for all applications involving basic
electronics, electrical equipment, mo-
tors and switchgear. In addition, these
systems can meet the demands of
rack mounted instrumentation, video
displays, PLCs, ControlLogix Systems,
computers, printers, recorders, mea-
surement gas analyzers and calibra-
tion equipment. Unlike explosionproof
enclosures, failure of a P+F Bebco
Enclosure Protection System does not
create an immediate danger. Another
benet of purging and pressurization
is the use of the standard Type 4/12
enclosure as the protected enclosure.
This saves money, weight, and space
over explosion-proof methods.
