4. PATIENT IMPLANT IDENTIFICATION CARD
A Patient Implant Identification Card is packaged with the Microstimulator. Advise the patient to carry
the identification card at all times. The identification card must be filled out with pertinent patient
information prior to the patient being discharged from the implanting center.
5. PULSANTE® SPG MICROSTIMULATOR SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The rechargeable Pulsante® SPG Microstimulator System (the “System”) electrically stimulates the
sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) peripheral nerve structure (Figure 1). The rechargeable System
includes a miniaturized Microstimulator, which is placed at the SPG through an incision in the
patient’s gum. The Microstimulator has six electrodes, which are programmed by a trained clinician
using the Programmer Software to customize therapy to the patients’ individual needs. The
Microstimulator is then controlled and powered by a Remote Controller. The patient can use the
Remote Controller to treat their headaches as needed. Periodically, the Remote Controller battery
needs recharging using the Remote Controller Charger provided.
