4. PULSANTE® SPG MICROSTIMULATOR SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The rechargeable Pulsante® SPG Microstimulator System (the “System”) electrically stimulates the
sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) peripheral nerve structure in your face (behind the nose). The
rechargeable System includes a miniaturized Pulsante® Microstimulator, which is placed at the SPG
through an incision in your gum (Figure 1). The Pulsante® Microstimulator has six electrodes, which
are programmed by your doctor using the proprietary Pulsante® Programmer Software to customize
therapy to your individual needs. The Microstimulator is then controlled and powered by a Pulsante®
Remote Controller. You can use the Remote Controller to treat your headaches as needed.
Periodically, the Remote Controller battery needs recharging using the Remote Controller Charger
provided.
