2nd generation adapter?

If you own a 1st generation Automatic adapter, please refer to this FAQ.

If you are setting up Automatic for the first time, be sure to select "Get Started" in the app and not "Login".

If you already have an Automatic account, you should select "Login". Read each screen and follow the

steps carefully. Also, make sure that you have a strong cellular connection, and if you are on the border

of a WiFi network, try turning off WiFi on your phone temporarily.

Please do not plug in the adapter before starting Setup. Setup will tell you when it's time to plug it in.

Below, you will find the steps for completing setup with your Automatic adapter, including many important

PRO TIP: Once the adapter is plugged in and powered (you should hear a beep after plugging it in), you'll have 25 minutes to complete Setup. If you don't complete Setup in that time, the adapter will go to sleep in which case you'll need to unplug the adapter and start Setup from the beginning. PRO TIP: On an iPhone, you'll need to manually pair Bluetooth. Make sure any other Bluetooth devices are turned off.

• If Automatic is still not appearing in the Device list, try unplugging and replugging the adapter. Make sure you hear a beep when you plug it back in. • If it's appearing in the Device list but still not connecting, unplug the adapter and start Setup from the beginning.

PRO TIP: The firmware update can take several minutes

PRO TIP: Once your firmware has updated, you'll have 5 minutes left to complete Setup. If you don't complete it in that time, the adapter will go to sleep. If you suspect that has happened, unplug the adapter and start Setup over from the beginning. You'll have 5 minutes to complete the entire process, but it should go quicker as your firmware has already updated. PRO TIP: Make sure your foot is off the brake during this step.

PRO TIP: Your VIN may be automatically detected. If it's not, you'll have two options for entering it manually. If it can not recognize your VIN, are you trying to set up a car outside the U.S.? If so, it won't work. Please see this FAQ.
