From the Manager menu, choose Create
Description Key or click
to display the
Create Description Key dialog box.
Create a Description Key

For this example, type
UP*
as the DescKey Code.
The asterisk (*) matches any point description
that starts with UP. For example, UP5A, UP5B.

Type
$*
as the Description Format.
These wildcard characters keep the point
description the same as when you enter it, so
you can distinguish between UP5A and UP4B.
However, you can assign a new, full description
if desired—this description is then used for all the
utility poles.

Type
PTS_UP
as the
Point Layer. This places the
point objects on the PTS_UP layer.

Symbol Block Name list, select
U_POLE.
