Calculating the Flow for Elliptical Pipes Using
Mannings Equations
To calculate the flow for elliptical pipes using Mannings n equations
1 From the Hydrology menu, choose Pipes ä Manning Elliptical to display the
Manning dialog box.
2 From the Solve For list, select the value you want to calculate.
The available values are: Flowrate, Slope, Mannings n, and Depth of Flow.
NOTE
Do not enter the value for which you are solving. For example, if you select
Flowrate in this step, leave the Flowrate text box at 0. After you enter the
other values, the program solves for the Flowrate.
NOTE
The Critical button is not functional on this calculator when calculating for
elliptical pipes. Elliptical pipes require more intense calculations than
circular or rectangular pipes.
