Inadditionto3Dsolidandmeshobjects,AutoCAD2011offerstwodifferenttypesofsurfaces:
proceduralandNURBS(non‐uniformrationalb‐spline).Proceduralsurfacesareassociativeandhave
history.NURBSsurfacesarenotassociativeanddonothavehistory.Instead,theyhavecontrolvertices
thatallowyoutosculpt
shapesinawaythatisclosertohowyouwouldoperateintherealworld.You
canuseproceduralsurfacestotakeadvantageofassociativemodelinganduseNURBSsurfacestotake
advantageofsculptingwithcontrolvertices.Atypicalsurfacemodelingworkflowmightbe:
Createamodel
thatcombines3Dsolids,surfaces,andmeshobjects.
Convertthemodeltoproceduralsurfacestotakeadvantageofassociativemodeling.
ConverttheproceduralsurfacestoaNURBSmodelwiththeCONVTONURBScom mandtotake
advantageofNURBSediting.
Checkforimperfectionsandwrinkleswiththesurfaceanalysistools.
Ifnecessary,rebuildthesurfacestorestoresmoothnesswiththeCVREBUILDcommand.

AblendsurfacecreatesasmoothtransitionbetweenexistingsurfacesusingthenewSURFBLEND
command.Youcanspecifyhowtheblendsurfaceflowsattheedgethatmeetsandtouchestheother
surfaces
usingthegripmenuoptions.
