Attach, Update, and Bind External References | 671
Whenever you change and save an externally referenced drawing in a net-
work environment, other people can access your changes immediately by
reloading the xref. If you change the location or folder of an xref drawing,
however, be sure to use the
XREF Path option to tell AutoCAD where to find
the file.
Notification of Changed Xrefs
When you attach xrefs to a drawing, AutoCAD periodically checks whether
the referenced files have changed since the last time the xrefs were loaded or
reloaded. Xref notification behavior is controlled by the
XREFNOTIFY system
variable.
By default, if a referenced file has changed, a balloon message appears near
the Xref icon in the lower-right corner of the application window (the status
bar tray). The balloon message lists the names of up to three referenced
drawings that have been changed and, if the information is available, the
name of each person working on the xrefs.
