Set Up a Page for Plotting | 619
Set the Position of the Plot
Once you have selected a paper size and printable area, you can specify where
the drawing is plotted on the page. On the Plot Settings tab of the Plot dialog
box, you can set an X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) offset.
If you plot an area of the drawing other than Layout (Extents, Display, View,
or Window), you can also select the Center the Plot option.
You may need to change the plot offset when attempting to precisely control
the positioning of a title block. The plot offset value compensates for the
margins of the paper by realigning the lower-left corner of the title block
with the lower-left corner of the page. You can determine the plot offset by
measuring the distance between the paper edge and the plotted information.
These values are commonly negative values.
Set Drawing Orientation
The drawing orientation determines whether the position of the plotted
drawing is landscape (the longer edge of the drawing is horizontal) or portrait
(the longer edge of the drawing is vertical). This is based on the size of paper
selected. You can also choose to plot upside down.
To position the drawing on the paper as you plot
1 From the File menu, choose Plot.
2 In the Plot dialog box, Plot Settings tab, position the drawing using the
following options:
■ To specify the part of the drawing to be plotted, select an option under
Plot Area.
■ To position the drawing relative to the lower-left corner of the paper,
enter X and Y offset values under Plot Offset.
■ To center the plot on the paper, choose Center the Plot under Plot
Offset.
3 Choose OK to plot the drawing with the new settings.
