Create Layout Viewports | 591
Viewports are often placed on their own layer so that the visibility of their
borders can be controlled. You can freeze or set the Plot property of the layer
so that the viewports do not plot. The visibility of a viewport's border and a
viewport's contents are independent if they are on separate layers.
To modify viewport properties using the Properties palette
1 Double-click the border of the layout viewport whose properties you want
to modify.
2 In the Properties palette, select the value for the property you want to
modify, and then enter a new value or choose a new setting from the list
provided.
The new property setting or value is assigned to the current viewport.

Lock the Scale of Layout Viewports
When you create layout viewports, you may want to apply different scales to
viewports to display different levels of detail. Once you've set the viewport
scale, if you zoom in within the viewport, you change the viewport scale at
the same time. By locking the viewport scale first, you can zoom in to view
different levels of detail in your viewport without altering the viewport scale.
