570 | Chapter 21 Create Layouts
When you are ready to set up your drawing for plotting, you can use a layout
tab. Each layout tab provides a paper space drawing environment in which
you can create viewports and specify page settings, such as paper size, draw-
ing orientation, and position, that are saved with the layout. As you desig-
nate page settings for a layout, you can save and name the page setup. Saved
page setups can be applied to other layouts. You can also create a new layout
from an existing layout template (DWT or DWG) file.
On the Model tab, you can view and edit model space objects. The crosshairs
cursor is active over the entire drawing area.
On a layout tab, you can view and edit paper space objects, such as title
blocks.
In a layout viewport, you can view and edit model space objects. To access
model space from a layout, double-click in a layout viewport. The crosshairs
and highlighting identify the current layout viewport.
