3 Choose Add to List.
4 Under Save As, enter a filter name such as Linefilter.
5 Choose Save As.
6 Choose Apply.
AutoCAD applies the filter so you can select, in this case, only lines in the
drawing. If you select objects with a selection, AutoCAD applies the filter
to all objects in the selection area.

To use a named filter
1 At the Select Object prompt, enter 'filter. (The apostrophe makes it a
transparent command.)
2 In the Object Selection Filters dialog box under Select Filter, select the
filter you want to use. Then choose Apply.
3 Use a crossing window to specify objects for selection.
Only the objects selected by the crossing window that match the filter
criteria are selected.
Customize Object Selection
For commands that use the Select Objects prompt, you can
■ Enter a command first, and then select objects
■ Select the objects first, and then enter a command to operate on them
You can also choose
■ Whether selected objects are highlighted
■ How you define selection areas and how you create selection sets
Choose the Command First
When you choose an editing command, AutoCAD prompts you to select
objects and replaces the crosshairs with a pickbox. You can respond to the
Select Objects prompt in various ways:
■ Select objects one at a time.
■ Click an empty area and drag the cursor to define a rectangular selection
area.
■ Enter a selection option. Enter ? to display all selection options.
