Create and Insert Symbols (Blocks) | 343
■ Create a selection set of blocks in the current drawing. Select the Select
Objects option. Choose the Select Objects button to close the wizard
temporarily while you select the blocks you want in the drawing area.
Press
ENTER to complete the selection and return to the Attribute
Extraction wizard.
■ Select all blocks in the current drawing. Choose Current Drawing.
■ Select all blocks in one or more drawing files. Select the Select Drawings
option, and then choose the [...] button to display the Select File dialog
box, where you can locate the drawing files you want.
3 On the Settings page, do one of the following, and then choose Next.
■ Select Include Xrefs if you want to extract block attributes from exter-
nal files referenced in the drawings you selected.
■ Select Include Nested Blocks if you want to extract attributes from
blocks nested within other blocks.
4 On the Use Template page, do one of the following, and then choose Next.
■ Select No Template if you do not want to restore the settings in this
wizard from a saved template file.
■ To restore the settings in this wizard from a template, select Use
Template and choose Use Template to display the Open dialog box,
where you can locate a template file. (Template files are named with the
.blk file name extension.)
5 On the Select Attributes page, in the Blocks list, select the blocks that have
attributes you want to extract. In the Attributes list, select the attributes
you want to extract. If you want to assign block or attribute aliases, use the
corresponding column to enter the aliases. Choose Next.
6 On the View Output page, verify that the blocks and attributes shown in
the list are the ones you want to extract. Choose Next.
7 On the Save Template page, choose Save Template if you want to save the
current block attribute extraction settings to a template file. Choose Next.
8 On the Export page, in the File Name field, enter a name for the file with
extracted block attribute information that you are exporting. You can also
use the [...] button to browse for the file you want. Select a file format from
the File Type list.
9 Choose Finish to export the extracted block attribute information to the
specified file.
